KUBIK – FLADER HÈLT UD/ VENTURES OUT INTO THE FLAT COUNTRY, SCULPTURE PAINTING
26-07-2007 – 25-08-2007
This exhibition is an example of recklessness.
At a meeting in the KUBIK group we found ourselves discussing the limitations of sculpture in comparison to other mediums/genres, for instance the obvious spatial problem – which results in poor chances of selling anything – and the many advantages that especially painters have.
Since all discussions in KUBIK must result in exhibitions or other projects we have arranged this exhibition of paintings at Galerie Birthe Laursen.
The genres of Art have been unstable for many years – and the obvious question is whether the genre isn’t completely irrelevant if the work works – this question, however, brings on (Art) historical issues…
We have often in KUBIK discussed the reasons why we, in 2007, still call our works sculptures. By contrast there’s never any doubt as to whether or not a given work of Art is a painting.
We would like to bring about that doubt.
KUBIK is a group of 19 contemporary Danish sculptors. The group has existed a little over 2 years and has exhibited in many different venues.
